My experience
In the course of my 25+ year career I've only held a real job for about 6 months. I've
always been an independent consultant in one way or another. This being the case, it has
always been my responsibility to not only master the details and complexities of a project
as they are explained to me, but to also break down those details when explaining the
use of one of my products to an end-user. It was after years of developing my craft and
communication skills that a customer told me that I was, "the only computer guy she could
understand."
